I remember everything you’ve taught me

He would talk about his death

Last winter, as my grandfather and I were waiting for my toast I orderd, I was staring at clerk’s hands, not moving an inch. Because I just wanted to pretend that I didn’t hear my grandfather as if I were deaf. I already knew what my grandfather would say. He didn’t care about me and kept talking. "I don’t think that I can live until you are a grown-up. When we can’t meet, I hope you to remember the times we were together." He would talk about his death after his two heart surgeries, but I didn’t answer him a word.

Just at that moment my toast was completed and I offered my grandfather a bite. "How does it taste? this shop sells all kinds of delicious toast." He looked at me with wide eyes. The look on his face said, 'You don’t want to hear me.'

He thinks that his days are short and is prepared to accept it, but I’m not prepared to do anything about it.

Are we getting close to the moment of parting?

Last fall, my family was waiting for the flight at the airport. I offered my grandfather to do duty free shopping. "I’d rather read this book. it is very interesting. I have no fear of dying, but I’m afraid I can’t read interesting books after death. Please always read and reflect on yourself." he said. He wanted me to realize books are filled with good surprise. However, I made no reply to him. I didn’t want to think anything about his death. Are we getting close to the moment of parting?, I’m confused.

I remember everything you’ve taught me

TO strange, I do as he told me. I recall the time when I was a child with my grandfather and write about those days. Also, I enjoy reading and realize that it is important to read good books . Finally, I decide to understand my grandfather. He wants me to know how to feel the same things that he has felt throughout his life. I’ll try to set his mind at ease and tell him to leave everything to me.

Grandfather, it was you that gave me my first book. And it was you that have bought most books I’ve read. You said 'Please expand your mind by reading books. It helps to understand people' I never forget it and keep it in mind. I remember everything you’ve taught me and I’ll do my best as you told me. You don’t need to worry about me any more. Thank you, grandfather.
