  번역은 그렇다 치고, 무슨 이런 시(詩)가 있나, 싶습니까?

  미안합니다. 사실은 시가 아니고 위에 표시되어 있는 것처럼 매사추세츠 주의 학교교육과정 문서에 들어있는 글입니다.

 

 

  저는 이 글을 감사패, 공로패처럼 크리스털에 새겨달라고 부탁해서(비록 가짜 크리스털이지만) 교장실에 두고 들여다봅니다. 뻔한 내용을 자꾸 들여다봅니다. 이상하게 들여다볼 때마다 가슴속으로 새로운 의미가 파도처럼 몰려오는 느낌을 갖습니다.

 

  사실은, 제 생애에 이보다 더 절절한 시는 없었습니다.

  왜 그런가 하면, 생각할수록, 기다려볼수록, 우리나라의 교육과정에 대한 '배려'는 한심하기 짝이 없는 것이기 때문입니다.

  그러므로 Arthur K. Ellis, James A. Mackey, Allen D. Glenn은 자신들이 시를 쓴 줄도 모르고 이렇게 감동적인 시를 쓴 것입니다. 그들은 아직도 그 사실을 모르고 있을 것입니다.

  그들에게는 미안한 일이지만, 저는 이렇게 바꾸어 읽고 있습니다. 좀 덜 미안하도록 딱 두 단어만 고쳐서 읽습니다.
